The Story of The Common Thread begins in Alabama with the remnants of a Birmingham band once know as the Easyflow Notion. Easyflow Frontman, Will Cholewinski met musician and vocalist Lenny Roth, a New Orleans native relocated to AL after hurricane Katrina, in the Summer of 2007. After only a few productive song writing sessions, the duo began performing their new material when Easyflow guitarist Stephen Fletcher came onboard and a search for a drummer began. Stephen's father, "Fletch" passed a copy of the Easyflow Notion's Flowdown album to a neighbor, Nate Doty, who unbeknown to him was a drummer. This wasn't discovered until Fletch and Doty's first annual summer slam block party where Steven and Doty performed together in an impromptu jam session. Doty was soon invited to rehearse with the trio Cholewinski, Fletcher, and Roth. And The Common Thread was born. Former Easyflow Notion Drummer Dave Burkes introduced The Common Thread to percussionist Donkor whose vocal and harmonica talents now complete The Common Thread family.
Songwriting has continued along with the reworking of older Easyflow songs to make up an extensive catalog of original music with over 40 original compositions influenced by the likes of Prince, Paul Simon, Bob Marley, Guns N Roses, Radio Head, Stevie Wonder, Galactic, Marvin Gay, Blind Melon, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Run DMC, Public Enemy, Led Zepplin, Slow Moses, Phish, and the list goes on.
